Vengeance is a fictional tale of a Coal and Iron Policeman Frank Justice Rules. He decided as a boy to take violent revenge when he witnessed his mother’s violation by one vicious Coal Iron. The mystery of his first love and uncle’s murders further strengthen that stand.

Coal company police called the coal and iron police ruled the coal-mining village. The story traces the life of one iron and the battle he fought to understand and combat the viciousness of the coal company police.

Frank Justice Rules became a shadowy character – Lawyer, Policeman, Thug, Mogul and a rich Avenger that brought justice his way.

The coal and iron police personnel were private coal company employees brought in and paid by the coal company. Their job was to keep order among the miners. The coal companies used them to keep the strikers out of the town and away from the mine. They were mostly thugs hired by the coal companies and paid to police the entire town and the coal company property. The Patch could be any one of hundreds of small mining villages that dot the landscape of Western Pennsylvania, West Virginia, or Kentucky. Life was hard and challenging and the song sixteen tons was spot on – ‘You owe your soul to the Company Store’.

The story portrays the life of the main character and his growth into a man that would try to right many wrongs. The character is fictitious but the story in many aspects is real life events that occurred. The coal village and its policeman were a reality to many that lived-in those turbulent times.
